August 29 Set as Hard Rock Casino Rockford Opening Day
The Illinois Gaming Board has approved the grand opening of Hard Rock Casino Rockford on August 29. Doors will open to the public at about 3 p.m., and, according to the news release, the casino plans to host a star-studded guitar concert to celebrate the launch.
Hard Rock International COO Jon Lucas said that the economic impact of that casino would provide hundreds of new jobs and boost entertainment options for everyone living near or visiting Rockford. He added that they were thrilled to welcome that new property to their global portfolio of over 300 venues.
The 175,000-square-foot casino resort will feature approximately 1,300 slot machines, 44 table games, a poker room, and a sportsbook. It will also feature the approximately 1,600-seat Hard Rock Live venue for concerts and performances, as well as 6 restaurants and a Hard Rock Rock Shop.
Although the Illinois Gaming Board has approved the opening date, the equipment and systems at the casino must pass regulatory testing before the operator can receive final approval to actually open the facility.
Currently, the casino’s management is still looking for additional 400 staff members. According to Geno Iafrate, president of Hard Rock Casino Rockford, the team members are the reason the temporary location has been a success, and they will work to ensure the permanent casino is a success as well. Iafrate noted that Rockford had been 30 years in the making, and the wait was over; they were excited to welcome guests into their house to showcase and expand the legendary Hard Rock brand.
