The Last-Minute Deal Has Helped Avoid a Casino Strike in Atlantic City
The main casino workers union has agreed on new contracts with Hard Rock, Borgata, Caesars, Harrah’s, and Tropicana.
Five Atlantic City gambling venues recently confronted the possibility of strikes after workers’ contracts ended. However, Borgata, Caesars, Harrah’s, and Tropicana recently agreed with Unite Here 54. The union also negotiated with Hard Rock a couple of days ago.
According to Unite Here Local 54, which stands for more than 10,000 employees, a “preliminary deal” has been finalized with Hard Rock, clearing the city’s latest danger during the Independence Day celebration.
Hard Rock International Chairman Jim Allen shared his mind on the situation. He noted that they are pleased to have successfully agreed with the union to raise salaries and various perks for their worthy crew members. Allen continued by saying they are excited to continue to enlarge this great relationship both nationally and locally.
The union president Bob McDevitt mentioned this was the best possible deal, and they had got everything necessary. McDevitt continued that employees were provided with contracts they could be incredibly proud of.
In early June, many Atlantic City casino employees rallied near the Tropicana casino, demanding pay raises. The current contracts with eight of Atlantic City’s nine casinos ended on May 31.
