3rd Rivers Casino Job Fair in Portsmouth: 1,300 Vacancies Awaiting Job Seekers
In Portsmouth, Virginia, the third job fair for the local Rivers Casino took place last weekend. Two more such fairs are scheduled for August and September to fill 1,300 jobs at the new $300 million resort. The entertainment center is expected to open early next year.
The list of vacancies is impressive. Applicants can seek management positions, as well as to employ as dealers, engineers, IT specialists, and so on.
Johnee Ingram, the VP of Human Resources of the casino, is confident that jobs will find their applicants based on turnout and activity at the job fair.
The new gambling center has been under construction since December last year when the groundbreaking took place at the intersection of Freedom Avenue and Victory Boulevard. The complex will include not only a casino but also an event center, a Bet Rivers sportsbook, an entertainment hall, restaurants, and a hotel.
It should be recalled that the consent to constructing a single casino was approved by four state cities, including Portsmouth. This decision was made in 2020 at local referendums during the presidential elections.
We add that the other three cities where gambling facilities are being built are Bristol, Danville, and Norfolk. However, the idea of building a new casino was rejected by the voters of the city of Richmond.
Let us recall that visitors of a temporary casino in Bristol have spent over $37 million in just one week.
