Paris Las Vegas: A Brief History
The French capital’s appearance has inspired many gambling companies to build gambling venues in the Parisian style. Every major gambling center on the planet has such facilities: Monaco, Macao, and, of course, Las Vegas. Caesars Entertainment, which owns Paris Las Vegas, offers the opportunity to plunge into the romantic Parisian atmosphere, and many visitors of the world gambling capital love this place. The hotel-casino, which cost $760 million to build, is located on Las Vegas Strip Boulevard in Paradise, Nevada, and has a fascinating history of appearance.
The hallmark of this gambling venue is a replica of the Eiffel Tower, which was used to film cult movies like Godzilla and Resident Evil. In addition to it, the casino also has copies of the Arc de Triomphe and La Fontaine des Mers.
In addition to the nearly 8,000-square-meter casino, Paris Las Vegas offers a 33-story hotel with almost 3,000 rooms and numerous entertainment facilities, including the 1,200-seat Le Théâtre des Arts theater. The architectural design of the gambling venue borrows from three of Paris’ most famous landmarks: the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, and the Paris Opera. And the hotel’s central tower is designed exactly like the Hotel de Ville.
The History of Paris Las Vegas
The current ensemble of buildings of the entertainment complex was erected on the site of the former gambling venue Little Caesar, which was located there since 1970 and had, in addition to the casino itself, also a bar, a jewelry shop, and a sportsbook. In 1995, the Bally Entertainment Corporation announced a proposal for a casino resort dedicated to Paris. Bergman Walls Associates was appointed as the architect.
In 1996, Bally Entertainment Corporation was taken over by Hilton, which in 1997 officially laid the foundation for Paris Las Vegas on a 9.7-hectare site. Implementing complex architectural elements, such as a replica of the Eiffel Tower, extended the construction of the hotel-casino for two years. A unique structural aspect of Paris Las Vegas was the back supports of the Eiffel Tower that descended to the casino’s floor through the ceiling.
The original plans were to erect a replica that was identical in size. Still, due to considerations related to the casino’s neighboring international airport, it was cut in half: to a 1:2 scale.
In order to reflect the symbol of Paris as accurately as possible, the architects involved in the construction of the hotel-casino visited the French capital to study the tower’s appearance in detail. For example, the hotel copy has fake rivets for a more remarkable resemblance to the original. In early September 1999, the entertainment complex officially opened, in honor of which the Eiffel Tower launched fireworks and then turned on the festive lights. Catherine Deneuve, a legend of French cinema, personally did it. The gala event attracted 35,000 visitors to Paris Las Vegas, including more than 4,000 VIPs invited to a private party.

Since 2010, the hotel-casino has undergone a series of renovations that have added new stores, a Chateau nightclub, and a steak bar from world-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay. In 2016, the renovation continued with the addition of a rooftop park with a grill bar in the entertainment complex.
The Paris Las Vegas Entertainment Range
The gaming area of the entertainment complex offers a large selection of games: thousands of slot machines of all kinds, as well as almost 200 tables for roulette, poker, blackjack, craps, baccarat, pai gow, and other games. Without leaving the hotel-casino complex, guests can eat and relax at any local restaurant, including one in the Eiffel Tower.
