California Casino Visitor Wins Jackpot Worth Over $1.5 Million
A guest at the Yaamavá Resort and Casino in Highland, California, has celebrated July 4th in style. The visitor, identified only as an elderly resident of Riverside, placed a $30 bet on Fortune Pai Gow and ended up winning a $1,517,211 prize.
The lucky player’s bet consisted of two parts — a $25 main bet and a $5 bonus bet. The casino’s press release stated that the winning combination was a seven-card straight flush, and the $5 progressive bet resulted in an incredible bonus payout.
Fortune Pai Gow is a mix of a traditional Chinese card game and American poker; it has a 52-card deck plus a joker. A player must arrange the cards into two hands — five for one and two for the other. If the cards are higher in rank than the dealer’s ones, the player wins. Fortune Pai Gow also has a bonus bet: an additional $5 gives a chance to win the Envy Bonus prize in accordance with the rules set by California’s Bureau of Gaming Control.
Yaamavá Resort and Casino is owned and operated by the San Manuel Entertainment Authority. The facility offers guests 7,200 slot machines and 150 table games. There are also five VIP rooms for high-limit play. The complex, which includes a casino, also has a concert hall, a 17-story hotel with 432 guest rooms and spacious suites, a spa, convenient 24-hour in-room dining, and other amenities as well as a generous player’s reward program. The property also offers sweeping views of the San Bernardino Mountains.
In 2023, Yaamavá Resort and Casino was recognized as the best casino outside Las Vegas by the USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
