Turning Stone Resort Casino to Undergo Major Redevelopment
Turning Stone Resort Casino, based in Verona, New York, is set to see its biggest expansion in 20 years, according to the Oneida Indian Nation. The laying of the foundation will tentatively take place in 2023.
The multi-year project is expected to double the existing convention and meeting space at the resort and will include a new 250-room hotel, restaurants, and additional amenities. At the same time, the project does not provide for the expansion of casino gaming operations.
Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Oneida Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter noted that with the start of the largest reinvestment in over two decades, Oneida enterprises were entering a new chapter with a guarantee of maintaining their status as one of the best tourism and entertainment destinations in the state for decades to come.
Halbritter added that event demand at Turning Stone far outstripped the possibilities of existing conference rooms and hotels, and the multi-year resort expansion project would help meet both current and higher future demand.
Note that Hayner Hoyt was chosen as the general contractor. Central New York trade unions will also be involved in the project. Hundreds of people will participate in the construction, according to Oneida Indian Nation, and after the project is completed, additional jobs will be created.
