Roc Nation Collaborates With SL Green and Caesars in NY Casino Bid
Roc Nation has made a three-way collaboration with SL Green and Caesars Entertainment since Jay-Z’s agency is interested in developing a gaming facility in Times Square.
This partnership is targeted to implement a plan for Time Square revitalization, in particular — to “re-imagine” programming in the district’s famous “bow tie”, through partnering with neighborhood organizations. The plans include the development of a “state-of-the-art” gaming facility at 1515 Broadway.
Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter noted commenting on the deal that New York was a beacon, the epicenter of culture; they had the opportunity to create a destination at the heart of Times Square, the true crossroads of the world. He added that his partnership with SL Green and Caesars, that coalition, had all the promise and commitment to economic opportunity, growth and enrichment for the community, and everyone who visited the Empire State.
The new facility, Caesars Palace Times Square, is alleged to provide both the city and the state with billions in tax revenue as well as to accelerate local economic recovery due to strategic partnerships with area businesses utilizing Caesars Rewards, a loyalty program that includes 65 million users.
CEO of Caesars Entertainment Tom Reeg noted that they were thrilled to have Roc Nation and Jay-Z join their partnership to bring Caesars Palace to Times Square. He called them “one of the most pioneering entertainment groups in the world, with New York embedded in their DNA”.
Reeg also said that Times Square had been the heartbeat of American Entertainment for over a century; through their shared vision, they would build a world-class destination specifically designed to complement and elevate today’s Times Square experience, ensuring it remained a magnet for visitors and a hub of creativity for years to come.
Chair & CEO of SL Green Marc Holliday noted, in particular, that together, they would bring the nearly 130m annual pedestrians a stronger and more exciting Times Square to visit, reunifying the bow tie around a new set of innovative programming that would appeal to New Yorkers and tourists.
