PGCB Reports $456.8m Gaming Revenue in Pennsylvania in February
According to the recent data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, gambling industry’s revenue in the state reached $456.8 million in February 2023. This is an impressive increase of 21.6% compared with the results of February 2022 and also the second-largest February revenue figure ever. February caps off a remarkable run of three consecutive record-setting months to the end of 2022. Despite being slightly down from the results in January, February’s figures demonstrate sustained growth of Pennsylvania’s revenue streams and highlights the robustness of the local gaming industry.
Revenue increase was reported by most state’s casinos. The Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in Meadowlands took the first place with $26.5 million, a significant 124.1% increase year-on-year. Other venues with good gains in comparison with 2022 were Valley Forge Casino Resort with total revenue of $61.4 million (96.6% up) and Hollywood Casino in Morgantown, which generated $6.6 million (90.4% up). The best revenue generator in the state in February was Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantsville with $72.6 million, which is 21.9% more than it was in the same period in 2022. Another good result was demonstrated by Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia and Parx Casino in Philadelphia ($61.4 million and $54.5 million respectively).
Last month’s slot revenue was $202.8 million, 4.1% up compared with February 2022, with Parx Casino, Wind Creek Bethlehem, and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh leading the way. Pennsylvania’s iGaming revenue in February 2023 totalled $131.6 million, which was a 28.5% year-over-year increase. The leading roles were taken by Hollywood Casino at Penn National, Valley Forge Casino Resort, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia.
Sports wagering revenue experienced an astounding year-over-year increase of 9,861.9% last month. The Valley Forge Resort Casino showed the best results in sports betting in the Keystone State, generating $23.4 million in revenue.
The report showed that the Pennsylvania gaming industry is experiencing a steady increase in revenue across all sectors.
In other news, New Jersey’s gambling revenue faced a 10.4% increase in February.
