Pennsylvania Online Casino Revenue Reaches $183.7 Million in August
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has released the financial results for the online casino sector for August 2024. Adjusted gross revenue totalled $183.7 million, with the slots segment recording a new monthly high.
The overall figure increased by 26.7% compared to the result for August 2023. Thus, the trend of double-digit gross revenue growth continues throughout 2024. The amount was also the third-highest in the history of the state, behind only the record $191.1 million in March and $184.9 million in February of this year.
Since the launch of the online casino industry in Pennsylvania in 2019, total revenue has exceeded $6 billion. Of this, $1.39 billion came in 2024, while the eight-month figure has grown by 26% year-on-year. Wagering was up more than $1 billion compared to 12 months prior.
According to operators, total revenue in the slots segment amounted to $138.3 million in August, which is 31.4% more than in 2023. Table games showed revenue growth of 15.9% to $43.2 million.
As for taxes, the state treasury received $53.4 million in August. Thus, the amount since the beginning of the year reached $396.3 million. The figure is more than three times higher than $112.5 million the sports betting sector generated.
Among casino operators, Hollywood Casino reached the best results with a total revenue of $72.1 million in August of this year. The FanDuel brand also recorded positive dynamics as in the slots segment the operator earned a record $32.1 million within a total figure of $45.9 million.
In other news, Bally’s temporary casino in Chicago attracted 1.3 million visitors in the first year of operation.
