Mayor’s Trustee Is No Longer a Casino Executive
Timothy Pearson, a retired Police Department Inspector and the advisor of Mayor Eric Adams, has recently stepped down as an executive at New York’s City only casino. According to The New York Times, the reason for this was the fact that Pearson received a salary from both the Adams administration and the casino.
In addition to his wages from Resorts World and the city, Pearson also received a police pension. This discovery was made by the New York City Economic Development Corporation in May this year. Watchdogs said Pearson’s new position as a Senior Adviser for public safety and Covid recovery had created a conflict of interest, given his work at the casino.
Resorts World commented on the departure of a key employee, calling Pearson an outstanding hero who first served the city for many years, and then ensured the security of the gambling facility for more than 10 years, applying his professional skills.
Also, the casino expressed understanding and support for Pearson’s decision to step down and direct his efforts to ensure safety on the streets of the city again.
It’s worth noting that neither Pearson nor Resorts World comment on what the casino executive’s salary was.
