Century Casinos to Open New Gambling Property in Caruthersville Soon
Century Casinos has announced plans to open its new land-based gambling property in Caruthersville, Missouri. The estimated date is November 1, 2024, which became possible after the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) gave the company the necessary approval.
The project calls for a new upgraded casino to replace the old riverboat-style property. This step will lead to the launch of Missouri’s first land-based gambling venue along the Mississippi River.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned to bring a weekend full of celebration events. Those will include food trucks, live entertainment and various giveaways with a total prize pool of $30,000.
The upcoming Century Casino & Hotel Caruthersville is set to offer a wider range of gambling opportunities, namely 599 slot machines and 9 live table games. If these plans come true, the casino will offer 50% more gaming options compared to the temporary pavilion. The hotel will also add more rooms, which are expected to grow to 74. In addition to that, Century Casino Caruthersville will provide visitors with year-round accommodation at The Farmstead or in its nearby RV park.
An upcoming launch of the new property is a part of the operator’s efforts to expand its presence in Missouri. This year, Century Casinos also added the Riverview Hotel to its Cape Girardeau spot, demonstrating the importance of business growth in the state.
Casino & Hotel Caruthersville comes to its launch despite tough economic times marked by labor shortages and high prices. The new property will expand the operator’s portfolio, which now includes venues in Maryland, West Virginia, Nevada, Colorado, and Alberta Canada. Century Casinos also runs six gambling properties in Poland.
In other news, the New Jersey iGaming market earned a record $208 million in September 2024.
