Danville Casino’s Revenue Up in December 2023 After Three Month of Decline
According to the Virginia Lottery, in December 2023 gaming revenue of Danville Casino reached $19.74m that is 12% higher than the result in November with $17.5m of revenue. It means that the temporary casino finally sees revenue surge after a three-month period of decline.
Danville Casino was opened on May 15th, 2023, by Caesars Virginia after local voters had greenlighted the project in 2020 and the Virginia Lottery Board then issued a casino license to the operator in April 2023. Since opening, the property has generated $145m in gaming revenues with a monthly record still held by July’s $21.4m.
As for December’s tax revenue, the city of Danville will collect not less than $1.18m. The arrangement between the city and Caesars Virginia calls for taxes equal to 2.5% of the casino’s gaming revenue up to $200 million.
The tent-like temporary casino located in the Schoolfield area offers 81 gaming tables and 808 slot machines. Meanwhile, a permanent resort is still under construction that at first was predicted to be finished by the end of 2023. But taking into account issues with a supply chain and labor shortages, the opening date was rescheduled. Despite the lack of recent updates, the property will probably open to the public this year.
Danville Casino is one of the three gambling venues operating in the state. A total gaming revenue across all Virginia properties reached $58.5m in December. Rivers Casino Portsmouth was a leader with $23.85m collected while Bristol Casino took the third place, having earned $14.92m.
When the permanent Danville Casino finally opens, it will feature about 1,400 table games and slot machines. The resort valued at $650 m will also offer its guests various amenities, including a pool, spa, restaurants and bars, as well as an entertainment theater with a capacity for 2,500 spectators. As for meetings and conventions, there will be a separate 40,000 square foot space.
