Americans Trust Gambling Industry — AGA Study
The American Gaming Association (AGA) has released the results of a new study on Americans’ attitudes toward the casino and betting sectors. According to the data, more and more U.S. residents perceive gambling as an acceptable form of entertainment.
The study found that 75% of respondents believe that the industry has a responsibility to the communities in which it operates. In addition, 90% of Americans believe that sports betting is acceptable, and 75% support legal betting in their own state.
The association noted that from 2023 to 2024, the number of people who highly rate the industry’s commitment to responsible gaming has increased. If in 2023 55% of respondents thought so, now this figure is 65%. Moreover, the figure is especially high among those who visit casinos and bet on sports.
Joe Maloney, the Association’s senior vice president of strategic communications, said that the results of the latest survey reflected a consistent trend. He said that as gaming expanded to new audiences, Americans increasingly saw the benefits of a legal, regulated gaming marketplace that contributed to communities, prioritized responsibility and provided unmatched entertainment.
The AGA found that several factors contribute to the growing trust of U.S. residents in the gambling industry. In particular, 65% of respondents called gambling companies’ marketing policies fair, and 73% called advertising responsible.
Respondents also spoke positively about the effectiveness of responsible gaming programs. Among visitors to land-based casinos, the support rate reached 79%, and among bookmakers’ customers, it was 85%. As for special websites dedicated to responsible gaming, 76% of Americans were familiar with at least one of them.
